Announcement of Changes that you will see in 2008.
Turlock Youth Football is excited about the 2008 Football Season. As we gear up for this year we have made some changes that Turlock Youth Football Board of Directors are proud to announce.
The 49ers are changing their color schemes to Black, Forrest Green and Silver shirt-hat-500

So why the change ?
Bottom Line - We are simply ensuring that we Honor both our local High Schools.  Turlock Youth Football for over 20 years has been sporting the same colors of Blue, Gold and White, which was selected to identify itself in it's league, and also to have some of the colors of Turlock High School.

Over the last 3 plus years Turlock has grown and Pitman High School was added to our great community.  Over those years there has been discussion about change, color schemes, boundaries, game and practice facilities, etc. Turlock Youth Football is its own non-profit identity and is not managed by the communities or Turlock School District, but we add support through the game, paying for facility usage and clean up and most importantly we give out scholarships to a graduating senior at both Turlock and Pitman High Schools. So for us the change of color schemes was imperative in showing support and to honor both High Schools.

Will there be Boundaries?
As for the discussion on Boundaries, the answer at this time is simple - there will not be any boundaries set and Turlock Youth Football will still operate with a draft and players may play for either team no matter where players may live. The decision to not have boundaries is simple for the following reasons: Our league Rules in regards to recognizing a franchise, you have to fill a Varsity squad to have a franchise recognized, if we set boundaries we could jeopardize one of our 2 franchises if we were not to be able to fill a varsity squad. This would be disastrous in regards to folding a franchise and sending all the other levels home with no place to play. We also can not absorb players from another franchise do to the league limiting the number of players per franchise and financially we can not take the risk because all funds that come in, have already been spent in refurbishing equipment, equipment replacement, jersey cost, etc.

Are you changing the names of the Teams?
No changes - we are still the Turlock Youth Football 49ers and Vikings

Are you changing the Practice facilities?
At the start of the 2008 season camp and try out week will be held at Turlock High School. After the drafting is complete and equipment is issued, a date will be announced and the 49ers will be practicing at Pitman and the Vikings will continue to practice at Turlock High School. There is still flexibility in this that teams that wish to scrimmage can visit each other during their practice time to do so.

Will this affect how Turlock Youth Football is ran, if both teams separate their practice facilities? No, Turlock Youth Football Board of Directors will continue to communicate with each other daily, via phone, e-mail etc. We have allot of Members on both franchises that will be available if there any questions and we are only a couple of minutes drive from each other.

HELP NEEDED

We are providing a very robust, informative and entertaining website this year for the Turlock Youth Football program.

Of the main goals for the site, is that it be consistently updated with current information throughout the year – on all teams, and at all levels.

This means we need volunteers to supply pictures, game recaps,

interesting stories and other suggested content that reflects the weekly games. The website will be updated on Mondays, so all information should be provided by Sunday night. If possible, send some information about submitted photos so that we can properly caption them with players names, details etc. Game Recaps and stories will be reviewed by the appropriate head coach before posting. If you are interested, please send an email to davetruax@charter.net
