Camp and Try Out Week start on Monday July 28th, 2008, 5pm to 7pm at Turlock High School behind the boy's gym.

I would like to encourage all players to start preparing themselves mentally and physically between now and July. As for all the first year players and for those coming up from Pee Wee you will be challenged by the number of classes and teachers that you will face as you enter Junior High School. This will be a challenging time for you as you move into Junior High and into Junior Varsity Football. You will have to be mentally sharp at school and on the field. It is absolutely imperative that you do your best in school, and if you can do that Football will be allot of fun. I can tell you from personnel experience from playing football at the youth level and through High School that you have to do both consistently well if you are to achieve your goals. This may sound like a lot, it is as easy or as hard as you make it. If you find yourself struggling in school or need encouragement or even help, please let me know. Homework is a vital part of your school success. I must insist that you do your homework as soon as you get home from school. Trust me after football practice the last thing you want to do is homework unless you have too. I have seen players on the team have to quit because of grades and trust me I support it because grades are more important than football but you can prevent it from happening by managing your time in school, take advantage of any free time you get at school by doing your homework. It is important that you are not stressed playing football because of homework, test and projects, so please manage your time, use a planner to keep track so you do not have to think about every little thing, a planner will help you keep track of homework assignments, test and projects. Physically, start running, riding bikes, get some exercise and drink lots of water, carry a bottle of water and drink and refill it and drink some more this will help your muscles and keep you hydrated.
Lets have our minds and bodies ready for the season. I want to see some fire and excitement. It is going to be a great season.

As for those players returning to JV. You have had a year where you mind and body have matured by leaps and bounds and now you are ready for the challenge this year brings, All of those things listed above you have already went through and now it gets a little easier because you know what to expect from yourself. Your next learning curve comes now, you have to be leaders in the class room and on the field. You have to encourage others, show respect because you have been there and encourage your friends and team mates to do their best in school and on the field, you are the leaders on this football team and the success we will have will come down to you and how you help bring your team together.

I look forward to seeing all of you succeed in 2008 and beyond.
